ADHD Therapy Singapore
For Children, Teens, Adults

ADHD is not just a childhood condition — it can affect people of all ages. Many children, teens, and adults in Singapore live with ADHD and experience challenges with focus, organisation, time management, and relationships.

At Inside Out Counselling Wellness Practice, we provide screenings, assessments and therapy designed to help individuals and families understand ADHD, build confidence, and develop strategies that work in daily life.

Types of ADHD

ADHD can present differently in each person. The three main types are:

  • Predominantly Inattentive Type – often appears as forgetfulness, disorganisation, daydreaming, or trouble sustaining attention.

  • Predominantly Hyperactive-Impulsive Type – marked by restlessness, difficulty sitting still, impulsive actions, or frequent interruptions in conversations.

  • Combined Type – includes both inattentive and hyperactive-impulsive symptoms.

Understanding your (or your child’s) ADHD type can guide the best strategies for learning, working, and managing daily life.

ADHD Symptoms Across Life Span

Children with ADHD may struggle to:

  • Pay attention in class or complete homework

  • Manage restlessness, impulsive behaviour, or emotional outbursts

  • Build social skills and friendships

  • Follow routines and rules

  • With therapy, children can learn to regulate their emotions, build focus, and develop confidence in school and at home.

ADHD in Teens: Challenges with School, Friendships, and Self-Esteem

For teenagers, ADHD symptoms often become more complex due to academic and social pressures. They may face:

  • Difficulty keeping up with assignments and exams

  • Restlessness or trouble staying organised

  • Low self-esteem or feeling “different”

  • Peer conflicts and increased emotional ups and downs

  • Therapy provides tools for managing school demands, improving self-confidence, and navigating friendships more effectively.

ADHD in Adults: Managing Work, Focus, and Relationships

Adults with ADHD often experience challenges such as:

  • Struggles with focus, organisation, or time management at work

  • Forgetfulness, procrastination, or missed deadlines

  • Impulsive decisions that cause regret

  • Relationship strain due to emotional regulation difficulties

  • Feeling underachieved despite working hard

  • With support, adults can develop strategies to improve productivity, manage emotions, and strengthen relationships.

Without support, these difficulties can lead to stress, burnout, and strained relationships. With the right tools, however, children, teens, and adults with ADHD can learn to thrive.

Effects of Untreated ADHD

When ADHD is left unaddressed, it may lead to:

  • Children & Teens: academic failure, low self-esteem, social rejection, behavioural issues, increased risk-taking

  • Adults: poor job performance, financial difficulties, relationship conflicts, higher risk of depression or anxiety

  • Across the lifespan: higher risk of substance use, impulsive behaviours, antisocial behaviours and suicidality if untreated

Early intervention can significantly reduce these risks.
